I think people rate horror movies thinking they are supposed to be Oscars nominees.
So the story isn't spectacular, true, but a scary movie is supposed to scare the audience and that's all it should really be expected, and I think this movie had a fair share of scary scenes (and I've seen many many horror movies). I would even go as far and say it was the scariest movie I've seen in 2024 so far. Lately I've hardly reacted to jump scares in movies, but this one got me somehow.
Horror movies have been getting worse and worse ratings on IMDb the past few years, and some of them are way scarier than older better rated movies. People are getting too demanding ahah
