Review of Blaze

Blaze (1989)
7/10
Blaze of glory

Warning: Spoilers
Lolita Davidovich stars as Blaze Starr, in this political drama based on real-life events. I saw Blaze in the cinema ages ago, and Paul Newman, who played Governor Earl Long, should have won an Oscar. In some ways, Blaze is very prescient of the current times, and it's a movie for the times. It's hard to believe Blaze was released 35 years ago, but definitely it's worth watching for the political intrigue in southern politics. Blaze Starr passed away in 2015, and she made a cameo in Blaze and was also a consultant on the movie. Anyway, it's a shame Blaze has been lost amongst other political historical dramas.
