Good Soap With Plenty of Red Herrings - Moss Rose
3 December 2023
This is a whodunnit that will be difficult for you to figure out for a while. Halfway through the film you will be presented with a big red herring, but eventually you will figure it out. Cummings is OK in her role, but she overdoes the My Fair Lady routine, and there is also a bit of Arsenic and Old Lace in the film as well.

Mature is oddly miscast in this role; it really should have been done by Ray Milland or Cary Grant. Vincent Price is very good as the detective from Scotland Yard, Ethel Barrymore is always at the top of her game. Worth viewing. A woman is murdered and it would appear there is only one prime suspect. We are spoon-fed a red herring to believe it might be someone else as the film progresses, but the real murderer is still pretty well hidden. Some will get it earlier than others.
