Boring, underwhelming, low in production value and uninspiring, it amazes me that Cate Blanchett signed on to produce this dud.
While Jessie Buckley and Jeremy Allen White have great screen presence, we're expected to believe that she would walk away from her solid relationship with White to fall for the dull as dishwater Riz Ahmed, who is totally one note in this film.
Buckley and Ahmed have zero chemistry and the entire premise of this film is basically ridiculous. I know how hard it is to make a movie and I wish I could say something positive about this one - but it's hard. Okay, Luke Wilson shows up for a few scenes and he doesn't suck. Christian Meer and Amanda Arcuri shine in small supporting roles, and the film has a great soundtrack.
I can't believe they are submitting this for award consideration. Maybe an award for the worst film of the year?
