Very Weird.
9 October 2023
The Rat Catcher is a short Netflix film about a man that catch rats with his incredible, mysterious skills. Baesd on Roald Dahl's short story, this was an interesting concept, but I don't think it was such a good film. Interesting aspect of narrate and storytelling, weird scenography, a mix of animation and live-action at the same time, bright, retro colours with bright blue that I can see is a Wes Anderson movie. He does something with that movies that make them very different, but weird. I don't think the Rat Catcher was so good overall, though. It was very unnecessary, and some storytelling ideas was badly made and really, it was like watching an adult kindergarten performance. The rats weren't even showed in the movie, and that was supposed to use your imagination but it felt just incomplete and bad. The story was generic and I think that even young children is going to be bored. I was bored myself, I tried to understand why Wes did make this movie at all, I think that it shouln't even by made. Should not be watched.
