I wouldn't take this movie too seriously- it's not Body Heat or Jagged Edge or China Moon-or even remotely close. But those are adult movies, and this one is more of a teenager movie which is why it strikes me as closer to American Pie. It's not that erotic but it's not that violent either. Unfortunately, it lacks the ribald humor of the American Pie movies, but it does have a similar feel.
Unlike some of the other reviewers- I found the concept of Isabel Lucas seducing Nick Jonas to be quite believable-it's just a little hard to picture her as a cold blooded killer. There's a bit of it at the end where she tries to frame Nick Jonas as a rapist- but you really needed more of a sense of how she was plotting to see her as evil as her actions.
The bigger problem in the movie is that Nick Jonas would have a very hard time figuring out how to make the crime look like an accident- how the hell would a high school graduate even tackle that one? She'd have had to lay it out for him, but the movie shows Nick Jonas masterminding the coverup.
Fundamentally- the movie's characters are too nice- they seem to squeeky clean while their actions are far from it.
