Deserved to be shelved
17 August 2023
'Hollywood Horror' is a slasher movie that was clearly made in the 90's, but for some reason its set in 2007. I vaguely remember there was a website made for this with an interesting if very by the numbers plot and some of the familiar cast members such as Tia & Tamera Mowry (Sister, Sister), Angus Scrimm (Phantasm) & Natalia Cigliuti (Saved by the Bell). I waited for it to come out, but it never did & totally forgot about it, until I came across it on YouTube & thought I'd check it out.

The plot = A group of teens on Halloween attend a "Slasher Movie" themed party at an old, abandoned warehouse where a killer is there waiting to pick them off one by one.

I can see why this sat on the shelf for such a long time as its a very poor and confusing mess that lacks any sort of thrills or tension with extremely laughable special effects and death scenes. Poorly structured and edited, this movie is just a confusing mess with characters just turning up at this place with no real explanation, followed by a baffling supernatural element which adds nothing to the story and endless scenes of the cast wondering around this building for seemingly hours on end & several of them ends up at that stairwell exit time and time again. The pacing is also godawful as it takes way too long for anything exciting to happen and when someone finally gets killed, it's extremely underwhelming.

Overall 'Hollywood Horror' is a surreal mess of a movie that deserved to be buried.
