Run! Run from this terrible movie!

HOME IS WHERE THE KILLER IS (TV Movie 2019)

BASIC PLOT: Nicole Turner (Kelly Kruger) can't seem to catch a break. She recently had a brush with medical malpractice, her cancer was missed, and she barely escaped with her life. On top of that, a recent break up with her boyfriend Kyle (Christopher Sean) has left Nicole vulnerable. Due to her illness, she lost her job and her apartment. She's expecting a windfall, but in the meantime, she needs a place to stay. Nicole finds what she thinks is the perfect temporary situation. She rents a room from Dr. Julie Thomason (Stacy Haiduk), and considers herself lucky to have found it. However, there's something odd about Dr. Thomason, and her house. There's a locked room, that's supposed to be empty. Nicole is sure she hears movement, and Julie talking to someone within. Is Dr. Thomason the blessing she seems, or is something else going on in the house?

WHAT WORKS: *Stacy Haiduk does a great job as the unstable ice queen, Dr. Julie Thomason.

*Psychology speaking, men do run from traumatic events. The two plot lines involving men bolting, Kyle running from Nicole's cancer, and Dr. Thomason's husband running from his daughter's illness, are both believe plotlines.

WHAT DOESN'T WORK: *Your protagonist should never be less likable than your antagonist. This is the case with Nicole Turner (Kelly Kruger), who is the least endearing protagonist I've seen in awhile. I don't know what Christina Welsh was thinking when she wrote this. There's no one to root for here, which makes this difficult to watch. Nicole cons Dr. Thomason into letting her stay by feigning a dizzy spell, she sneaks and pries into Dr. Thomason's person spaces, and finally, she steals one of Dr. Thomason's prescription pads. Nicole is the houseguest from hell, not the other way around. She's also a crappy friend, and girlfriend. There is nothing redeeming about this character, whose motivations are completely selfish.

TO RECOMMEND, OR NOT TO RECOMMEND, THAT IS THE QUESTION: *Run, run from this movie! Even if you like made-for-tv movies and melodramas, you'll hate this. It's a terrible jumble of selfish people you can't stand.

CLOSING NOTES: *This is a Made-For-TV movie, please keep that in mind before you watch\rate it. TV movies have a much lower budget, and so your expectations should be adjusted.

*I have no connection to the film, or production in ANY way. I am just an honest viewer, who wishes for more straight forward reviews. Hope I helped you out.
