Bandit Queen (1994)
9/10
Phoolan, the victor

What's amazingly horrific about this great film, is that it's true. That's the feeling you'll get all through. Phoolan's life, was one of suffering, you feel so much for her. Ridiculed by the town people, abused by the men, and a child bride, she was frowned upon. She had a rep, as a whore, when a young girl, but we are never shown this, which could be hearsay. What I loved about Phoolan was her independence, and how she turned the tables on two awful figures, former abusers, and their party, in a brutal bloodshed, sweet revenge moment, where I truly rooted for her. Her uncle, and former husband, stuck by her, and I really admired this. She became a hero. The relationship between her and an older long haired Dev Patel looking guy, too I admired, formerly one of her tormenters. Bandit Queen is well acted and riveting, with, beautiful visual locations. It's near end music score, played over the massacre scene is haunting. This film, you won't forget in a hurry.
