Nice try but Portugal is not quite there yet

As a portuguese, I'm obviously proud to see a production from my country on a platform like Netflix. It's an uncommon achievement for us. However, and I know some people might get this wrong, we still have a long way to go.

Rabo de Peixe doesn't exactly bring anything refreshing to the table, except maybe for the picturesque shooting location. We've seen this kind of clichéd, formulaic action and drama many times before.

I don't mean to generalize but what we have here is an amateurish and over the top acting and a flawed and lazy writing. You'll find some unrealistic moments and plot holes. What's more, I know it must be hard to find actors with a micaelense accent but it makes no sense to shoot a series about people from Azores where no one seems to be from there. Also, it's relatively normal to swear on TV but there's way too much swearing! The overuse of cursing won't add anything to the story, on the contrary.

That being said, it's still an enjoyable show about misery, hope, greed and survival but a forgettable one too.
