Silly fun ya gotta love.

Warning: Spoilers
This is certainly not the type of film that would win any awards outside of most memorable cult film nominations in the 1980's, but it is definitely nostalgic and crowd pleasing, without a doubt a silly representation of the type of entertainment that made the 80's memorable all these decades later, especially if you were there and saw all these trends come and go, some extremely fast, and some that have come back since. Who would think that Academy Award winning actress Geena Davis would obviously be having so much fun in a piece of fluff like this? But she did, along with the already established Jeff Goldblum and late night comedy variety shows stars Damon Wayans and a pre-stardom Jim Carrey as the aliens and campy singing star Julie Brown.

The songs themselves for the most part are pretty unmemorable, although Brown definitely steals the scene with "Cause I'm a Blonde", even though for the most part she has light red hair. Davis and Brown transform the three hairy aliens into typical SoCal style dude bros, taking them clubbing and getting into all sorts of amusing antics. Not so much of a plot as it is a lifestyle, and in watching it 35 years later, it made me want to get onto a spaceship and go back in time. Lots of cultural references includes various media performers of the time, some quickly forgotten and others still floating around out there somewhere.
