Devoid of comedy and anything interesting...
25 October 2022
Granted, when I sat down to watch the 2012 Thai romantic comedy "ATM: Er Rak Error", I must admit that I was expecting a tad more than what director Mez Tharatorn managed to deliver here. Sure, I hadn't heard about the movie prior to sitting down here late in 2022 to watch it. But it being an Asian romantic comedy was enough to make me have an interest in watching it.

The storyline, as written by Aummaraporn Phandintong and Mez Tharatorn, was a swing and a miss in terms of entertaining me. The concept of the storyline was just too mundane and the alleged comedy was nowhere to be seen. And the character gallery has about as much appeal as watching wet paint drying on a wall, so there was no enjoyment there to be had either.

I managed to endure a staggering 43 minutes out of a run time of 123 minutes. It felt like I had watched the movie for 4 hours or more, because the narrative was so slow paced and uneventful. I just tossed the towel in the ring and gave up at that point, because nothing appealed to me about "ATM: Er Rak Error".

Of the entire cast ensemble participating in this movie, then I was only familiar with actor Chantavit Dhanasevi. And while they had good actors and actresses on the cast list, then the performers literally had nothing to work with, and it showed on the screen.

If you enjoy Asian romantic comedies, which I also do, then I would strongly suggest that you give "ATM: Er Rak Error" a wide berth, because it just simply isn't worth the time, money or effort. And believe you me when I say that I am never returning to watch the rest of this movie. I was just, hands down, simply too boring.

My rating of "ATM: Er Rak Error" lands on a generous two out of ten stars.
