The Bling Ring (2011 TV Movie)
3/10
Personal Shoppers at Work

Warning: Spoilers
Apparently based on a true story, "The Bling Ring" never seemed believable. A group of high school students form a personal "shoppers' club" to rob celebrity homes. The film even seemed to be glamorizing the kids' crime spree.

We see the action unfold primarily from the perspective of Zachary Lawrence Garvey. Zack suffered from anxiety problems and acute shyness that set him back at school. Now, he is enrolled in a "continuing" education program along with other deeply troubled youth.

Despite their personal problems, Zack's chums, such as the dynamic Natalie, seemed never to lack confidence as their ambitions soared in a life of crime. Zack instantly came out of his shell, and it was sad to witness his behavior, especially since his actions were heartbreaking to his caring mom.

It was simply not credible how the kids could open the door of the mansion of Paris Hilton and waltz through the home. Or, how was possible for them to enter into Orlando Bloom's home and make off with a $500,000 watch without triggering an alarm system?

Led by Detective Archie Fishman, the police were also very slow in figuring out who were the members of the Bling Ring. A tremendous amount of police time was spent in investigating the case. With the acute problems of crime presently in Los Angeles, the film has not traveled well over the past decade.

The main characters of this film were spoiled brats. And it was difficult to have any sympathy for them as we watched them squander their lives.
