Cuba Gooding Jr's Best DTV Film. A Good Little Crime Thriller
29 August 2022
Linewatch is a decent little crime thriller & is the best of Gooding Jr's direct-to-dvd work.

All those big action stars of the 90's are putting out films in the direct-to-dvd market & that's fine if the film is good but many are terrible crap.

We have Action legends like Van Damme & Dolph Lundgren & Wesley Snipes & Bruce Willis all makings loads of low-budget action thriller's & i try to see as many as i can. I think Van Damme has been the most consistent with really good films by the choices he's made to star in, but each actor has made at least a few gems & one of Gooding Jr's is LINEWATCH.

Gooding Jr plays Michael Dixon a Us/Mexico border patrol officer who is a good at was he does & is a well respected & a decent family man but everything changes when he's recognised by his old gang from Los Angeles.

See Mike was once in a gang back in the day when he lived in L. A but he escaped that life & thought he had left his bad past behind until his old "Friends" spot him accross the border & basically push themselves back into his life. Mike doesn't want anything to do with these thugs but they come to his house with his wife & kids there & Mike pretends to still be the tough thug he used to be in front of them. This scene is a horrible one because he's a nice family man but feels he has to show that hard side off to those thugs by treating his wife like just another hood bitc#. Gooding Jr is a good actor as we know & he total suits this role & delivers a very unnerved & on edge performance as Mike & he totally sells his character. You believe this guy was once in a street gang & that he is a completely different person today & wants to be left alone but his old crew want him back involved & force him to bring drugs accross the border or his family is in danger. Gooding Jr turns vigilante & starts to take out his old crew.

Yes basic action stuff & a simple story but its done well for a cheap low-budget film & it's surprisingly suspenseful & has a dramatic weight to it all. I truly believe that this story is so realistic & true for many men that try to leave their gang life behind & live a normal life & try to do good but it nearly always comes back to haunt them.

Linewatch is a very believable little crime thriller with a solid turn by Cuba Gooding Jr & tightly-wound intense situation story & a lonely border setting.
