What a shame that John Huston's 2-hour original has been lost forever! Even in its 69-minute version, however, it is still a fascinating film with beautiful cinematography and interesting point-of-view shots. And Audie Murphy is excellent. Sadly, much is lost in his character's transformation, and the narration seems distracting and unnecessary. So yes, it's flawed, but definitely worth a view.
