I realize this movie was made almost a decade ago, but I hadn't heard of it before. I love Tom Wilkinson, anything he's in, he just makes better. So it is with this role in this movie.
Questions: What happened with the pedophile, the girlfriend, the fingerprints?
What was the deal with the boy's mother? Was she even interested in who hurt her son? Did she like the younger cop? Her character just had nothing to present, except for her crying when the boy died. That's it. Otherwise, she just made faces and basically let the men take advantage of her or just push their way into her life.
The younger cop; what was his deal? He crossed the line of professionalism by crushing on the mother, especially going to her house and trying to kiss her. Did she give a signal that she might be interested? Did he just assume that she'd fall for him, just because?
The older cop; what's with putting him in the hospital? Just to get him out the way so the young cop could arrest the perpetrator?
Why is the wife so negative? Sure, her husband confessed to hitting the child with his car, and of course I'd expect angst. But she was just weird. The actress herself has some dumb facial expressions, just watch Lie To Me and that's obvious.
It's a disappointment but I watched it through to the end because I kept hoping it'd get better. I hate that I didn't like it, but I can't help that at the end I went, "what just happened?"
