Greater Expectations

Not at all what I Expected', & nothing prepares you for the shock, horror realities of 'civil' war in this movie. This is a very powerful & emotive movie about a man who was not a teacher, but in his efforts to 'Keep Calm & Carry On', he tried to teach the native children of the land wherein he lived, to do the same & have Great Expectations amidst being victims of a ruthless society. However, the message was lost as the children & their parents 'didn't get it'. They misunderstood the real significance of having Great Expectations being read to them.

So much happens in the movie that I don't think the movie itself reaches its 'Opt Pot' - ie: Optimal Potential. However, it does reveal in part, that Great Expectations can be a man's 'good book' - ie: In The Beginning Was The Word & The Word Became Flesh' - ie: in the beginning was the novel & the novel has inspired many dramas, films, movies, plays, screenwriters etc. So without adieu, children, you are to have 'Greater Expectations' for your lives than the civil war you experience, because Pip did - he yearned for Estella - he yearned for Greater Expectations so that he can be taken seriously as a Gentleman capable & worthy of loving Estella - regardless of her feelings for him.

Children, you are to have Greater Expectations for your future lives than that what you see before you.

Great Expectations is not 'Hope' as Great Expectations supersedes hope. It also supersedes the conventional & the traditional. The clue is in the words 'Great' 'Expectations' paraphrased as 'Greater Expected Actions', 'Expect Greater Actions' or 'Unexpected Actions'. Remember, the Charles Dickens' Novel Great Expectations is about a convict who became a wealthy 'Ex'- convict' who sought to do good with his fortune.
