Passable, just about

An early effort from Russell T. Davis, who once again seems to have that "kiss of death" approach which saps life from the production. I remember seeing an episode or two when I was a kid and not being overly impressed and that feeling hasn't changed as an adut. This is passable, but a far cry from the shows it obviously imitates such as CHILDREN OF THE STONES. The lack of likeable characters hurts it greatly - the old sisters are probably the best here - and the incessant fat-shaming hasn't aged well. The plot is very metaphysical but that doesn't translate well into action or incident other than some dated FX shots. We're left with a lot of talk and mumbo-jumbo and very little "meat", so that at just six episodes this feels incredibly drawn out.
