Review of WWE 2K20

WWE 2K20 (2019 Video Game)
5/10
Here comes the pain
17 December 2021
I've known worse games whilst it isn't perfect it can be tolerated. Most of what is wrong with this is the mechanic's, the control system really is awful not to mention the consistent level of glitches throughout. Whatever happened to the L2/R2 reversal system they had in the first place. If it isn't broke don't fix it! Much like everything else these days the story mode highlights female empowerment, but not in a good way! This story almost goes full circle in the opposite direction of misandry; constantly making the male character out to be a buffoon amongst the weakest of wrestlers in history. I liked the idea of creating a male and female character for the story line, however I can't help feeling they could have capitalised with this as a power couple story line. On a positive note this game ensembles the very best roster in wrestling video game history and although frustrating; playable with a variety of modes. It also has multiplayer online access much like previous instalments! This is the first WWE game i had played since 2k14 so I came in with an open mind whilst expecting a vast improvement in them six years. Not much had changed except the games have become less fluent with their in ring grapple system. The online is awful because it's so hit and miss with lag, possibly one of the worst servers for online gaming in recent memory especially with a game reliant on a metre kick out system. If rocket league manages a good server so should this, no excuses available. Previous outings allowed you to put titles up for grabs with a history of your online win/lose record. Without these minor things online feels like playing loads of exhibitions with no purpose. It's gonna be hard to come back from this one no wonder wwe are delaying further instalments till 2k22.
