A family-oriented adventure movie about a brave knight who sets out to rescue a gorgeous princess
14 November 2021
A Sixties retelling of the essential fairy tale plenty with attractive and enjoyable scenes , all of them make this one an amusing an entertaining story as children as adults . The son , Sir George (Gary Lookwood) , of a sorceress , Sybil (Estelle Winwood) , wants to be the consort to a gorgeous princess and he's very much in love with her , but she's kidnapped . The king , her father , announces that she will be given in marriage to whoever saves her. Then our starring undertakes the task alone , and subsequently accompanied by six valiant knights , all of them have to rescue the abducted princess through a series of life-threatening exploits . Being armed with weapons , armour and the six magically summoned knights, embarks on a quest to save a princess from an evil sorcerer , Losac (Basil Rathbone) , and a threatening dragon .The journey is dangerous with the nefarious witcher placing a series of deadly challenges : quicksands , betrayals , creepy ghosts... before them and eventually the greatest contender : the enormous Dragon . The Most Incredible Weapon Ever Wielded! . See the Green Fire Demons! See the 25-Foot Tall Ogre! See the Beautiful Vampire Woman! See the Boiling Crater of Death! . Battling the 7 Deadly Curses! .Feats beyond description! Spectacle beyond imagination!

A fantasy and sword-witchery movie with straight-forward action , sword-fights, romance and a huge monster . A fine rendition upon the basic fairy tale jammed with all the cliches , outright satirical humor , sense of style , Error Flynn adventure and Pythonesque shafts of humor . Adventurously agreeable romantic movie centers around a wonderful adventure crammed with traditional fantasy , including great fight scenes, damsel in distress , dashing protagonist and evil villains . It exudes a certain innocence , sense of wonder and upright enthusiasm into the proceedings. The main interest lies in a sympathetic cast with two veteran actors : Basil Rathbone, Estelle Winwood and others newcomers . Gary Lockwood and Anne Helm give charming interpretations . While Bruce Rathbone injects any real enthusiasm to his undaunted revengeful role as a nasty wizard . Support cast is frankly , such as : Estelle Winwood , Liam Sullivan , Danielle De Metz and Angelo Rossitto as 2nd Dwarf .

Here stands out the colorful and brilliant cinematography by cameraman Paul Vogel . As well as evocative musical score by Richard Markowitz . The motion picture was well written , produced and directed by Bert I Gordon and he made the special effects effects too, in his usual primitive and traditional style . Bert started making home movies in 16mm when he was only nine years old , that's why his professionality and craftiness . Being nicknamed 'Mister Big', both for his initials and for his many '50s giant creature movies . Bert realized various Sci-Fi , Fantasy and monsters movies , such as: " Cyclops , Food of the gods , Viillage of the Giants, Magic Sword , Picture Mammy Dead , Big Bet , and Witching, the Necromancy" . This is not nice enough even to be deemed a camp movie , but it results to be a fine rendition of the classic fairy tale stories . Rating : 6/10. Acceptable and passable.
