The target is just a bit higher (15years later though) than that of other loosely science-focused series like Fringe: people with no understanding of the topics that mistake cool for interesting.
Indeed Biohackers has some well designed characters and shows a bunch of cool hacks (the room-mates with different skills/quirks are a great idea yet they are treated like 1 dimensional puppets), but that is all it can offer.
The storyline, as you get deeper into the plot, shows there's no attention to realism. Overall what we have is a thriller for teens full of cliches, stupid plot/characters development, cringy writing and a terrible scientific/academic department.
Pity, the subject deserved a much more refined production than this B-tv-movie vibe.
