Review of Blackway

Blackway (2015)
Little Known But Suprisingly Good Film
3 September 2021
Blackway is almost like a western in the dynamics of its plot with a villain terrorizing a small town and young woman, and the only citizens willing to stand up to him are an old man and his mentally challenged friend;almost like a cross between True Grit and The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance except set in the modern day pacific northwest instead of the wild west.

Beyond its overall satisfactory filmmaking what takes a decent premise and makes an entertaining movie out it are Ray Liotta's and Anthony Hopkins' performances. Liotta is a perfect heavy and proves it in what is at least his best performance since Henry Hill along with Hopkins who is, well, Anthony Hopkins.

Go With Me or Blackway isn't a great film, but its greatly underrated and is a well thought, paced and thoroughly engaging thriller/drama that deserves much more.
