"Hey, I'm glad you're not cat food."

Warning: Spoilers
I have mixed feelings about this one. The message is supposed to be inspirational for those getting on in years, but it was tough for me to relate to these old women, even if I'm about their same age. I'm a guy so that probably has something to do with it. The cast of aging cheerleaders was somewhat surprising. Led by Diane Keaton, it was interesting to see Rhea Perlman as part of the squad. I haven't seen her in anything in a long time, and I thought it would have been a hoot if the husband she murdered was played by Danny DeVito; why didn't the film makers come up with that idea? And Pam Grier? She of Tarantino's "Jackie Brown"! I'd say that was pretty eclectic casting. You know, it might sound crazy, but that whole idea of sending your remains up in a fireworks display after cremation is actually a real thing. What's even crazier is you can get a home kit for your own private memorial. I say 'your own', but you'll need some help on that score. Anyway, I'm glad the story ended the way it did because if the Sun Springs Cheerleaders hadn't wowed the crowd, it would have been a disappointment. What could have been a tearjerker ending was handled well enough that you didn't have to shed one because of the message.
