Review of Convoy

Convoy (1978)
7/10
One of the best trucker movies!

Just a year after 'Smokey and the Bandit', the similar themed 'Convoy' was released. If you enjoy truck movies, you surely will love 'Convoy'!

Kris Kristofferson stars as Rubber Duck, a loner who gets involved in more than he can handle through no fault of his own, and becomes a reluctant hero. 'Convoy' delivers plenty of action, and there's also lots of humor. I enjoyed Kristofferson as the protagonist, just as much as I enjoyed Ernest Borgnine as the antagonist, Dirty Lyle. And the chemistry between Kristofferson and MacGraw was sweet and serene.

'Convoy' was made in a time before CGI, where everything was done with practical effects. As a result, the action sequences and stunts are really awesome. This is REAL film making. The cinematography was also very good.

The pacing is good, the story is good, and the film offers an excellent blend of comedy, drama, action and adventure. This is one of the best trucking movies ever made, and darn entertaining at that!
