A Play In Thirteen Acts

This TV production about the Cuban Missile Crisis is a distinguished production, wth some high-powered performers in key roles. Like many such productions, it strikes me as more as a stage play adapted for the camera than on its own terms. Because it is mostly people talking, it tends to you long takes, particularly in the early phases, to lend context to statement. It also adapts stage techniques in the ater stages, with Howard da Silva as Kruschchev delivering his lines as if he is on a different part of the stage with the spotlights turned on him.

It's difficult to separate the real lif events which occurred in my lifetime from the presentation.. William Devane as President Kennedy and Martin Sheen as Robert Kennedy do fine imressions of their subjects, Dana Elcar's obvious toupee distracted me from his role as Robert S McNamara.
