The Admiral (2015)

A missed opportunity for perfect Dutch cinematography.

I won't address the acting value of this movie for it had the potential to just be an highly-educative historical film.

That is the biggest problem I have with this movie; the set dressing and uniforms have an incredibly high production value.

Beautiful. However, either the camerawork and screenplay or the post-production are terribly disappointing.

Continuous camera shaking. Characters with dialogue, points of interests and beautiful backgrounds have been weirdly cropped in almost every scene. Cutted-off heads, little set details are given a 0.5 second screen time and too many close-ups have been used for beautiful large sets. I felt the high production value of everything else in this movie (especially for Dutch productions' standards) has been handled disrespectfully because of this.

A missed opportunity for perfect Dutch cinematography.
