Entertaining dark humorous little tribute-ish
16 March 2021
I started watching From Dusk Till Dawn 2: Texas Blood Money (1999) expecting a bad movie after reading about the negative critics. I think I understand their rage, but I don't sympathize.

From Dusk Till Dawn 2: Texas Blood Money (1999) is about a bank heist performed by a bunch of corny criminals that might go south due to, you guessed it, vampires. In a contrast to the first movie, the criminals now intend to do a criminal act rather than run from the consequences of a criminal act.

I take this movie as a serious dark humor movie. I don't consider it a parody of the first movie or anything similar. I assume they tried to pay tribute to the second segment of the first movie and they got it right in my opinion.

If you remember the second segment of the first movie, you know it is a completely different movie compared to the first segment. The second segment is a little goofy and all over the place. From Dusk Till Dawn 2: Texas Blood Money (1999) ramps the goofiness and the "all over the place"-ness of that segment. It is meant to be goofy, although, serious, at the same time.

The movie's soundtrack is funny and enjoyable. It feels old and it grows on you, if, by now, you know what you are in for. Get used to the soundtrack, because it plays throughout the whole movie. Not the same score, but any shot of this movie has some bumpy music playing.

This movie features some great names. Robert Patrick. Duane Whitaker. Raymond Cruz. Even Bruce Campbell does a quick intro. And our lovely recurring Denny Trejo.

The famous bar makes a short appearance too. Only to introduce us to Denny. It goes by fast; same for Denny. Just a sparkle of nostalgia.

Overall, I think this movie is entertaining if you know what you are in for. I would definitely recommend it to some trash movie fans. I would definitely recommend it to people who like horror movies, no standards required. I would not recommend it to casual movie watchers or people wanting serious stories.
