Trashy 80s Frat-House fun that actually delivers!
3 February 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Obviously a low-grade film, but one that was more fun to watch than I expected. The "horror" element isn't there at all (including possibly the most ineffectual demon in 80s b-movies I've encountered yet!) but there's plenty of frat-house fun and titillation and a vibe that is unqiue to DeCoteau: like if Troma tried to remake Porky's. It's also helped along by some gloriously trashy Los Angeles new wave/punk that really fit the mood.

The first part of the film was actually really good. The opening scene setting up the crystal ball and nature of the succubus contained within was entertaining and then seeing the girls hamming up their gawky characters was hard not to like - the actors all seemed to be having fun here and it was infectious. They also did a nice job of establishing and making likeable the three boys who are invited over to a house party by the girls. So far so good. But things took a nose dive after the girls were possessed and transformed into man-eaters. As much as I loved seeing these ladies smearing themselves in cake and taking a bubble bath, the film just goes through the motions from hereon in as they pick off unwitting victims. The late arrival of a cynical, sardonic priest brought a few chuckles, before the film ended suddenly and flatly with the effortless defeat of the aforementioned demon.

Overall, plenty of T&A, good energy, good fun and doesn't outstay its welcome.
