Don't listen to the haters
31 December 2020
I grew up with the "original" Jönssonligan, and even watched and enjoyed the Danish version, which the franchise is based on. So when I heard about this re-boot, I was a bit sceptical. Or maybe just afraid. Afraid that this new re-boot would damage the old versions, which to me, involved a lot of fund childhood memories.

The "original" version was funny and consisted of some of the best Swedish actors at the time. It was also made in the 80s and 90s, for an audience in the 80s and 90s. It was, back then, relevant. A lot of the jokes hit well because they were typical of the times in Sweden.

This version is not written for that time period. And such, it differs in many ways. If you prefer the old version, and you feel you do not want to tarnish the fund memories they bring, then you will probably hate this movie. If you on the other hand can enjoy the old and be open to the new, then you might enjoy it.

The movie does make a lot of nods to the old films and I feel it pays homage in a nice way. I would probably be more upset if they took out the infamous line "Jag har en plan!" (I have a plan) to be honest.

The new crew is different yet in many ways the same. And the acting is pretty good for this type of film. You don't really take a role in this movie with the aim to get an Academy Award. You can see that the actors had fun with their roles.

It's a solid 8 from me, to some part based on nostalgic love for the franchise. But I did find myself laughing a lot of the time, which is a good sign for me.
