Perry Mason (2020–2023)
A few words of warning....
13 November 2020
Warning: Spoilers
This is something unusual for me. In the case of "Perry Mason" I'm not exactly reviewing the overall show but am writing this to warn potential viewers of what they will see.

If you haven't heard, this is NOT the Perry Mason of TV fame....nor is it the Perry Mason of 1930s films (starring Warren William). And, it's also not even the Perry Mason of the Earl Stanley Gardner books. In fact, it would be best if you just tell yourself that for good or bad, it's NOT Perry Mason. This isn't an insult in any way...you just need to adjust your expectations and tell yourself that you can't watch and keep comparing the various incarnations of the character (this is also good advice to folks comparing the new and old Star Trek franchises).

Second, and much more importantly, this incarnation of Perry Mason is very, very, very, very violent and unsettling. It is NOT a show for kids and, frankly, most adults might want to think twice about watching it. After all, if you've had a child die, much of the very first episode will just about kill you if you watch it...nor should you watch if you are depressed as it might very well make it worse. After all, in just the first show you see a very, very realistic dead baby...in close-ups....with its eyes sewn open!! You also see a guy shoot three guys and stomp on one of their throats to finish the job....and the camera does NOT pull away nor does it mitigate the horror of seeing this. These are just a few of the things you'll see.

As for whether or not I like the show, well, I'll have to wait and see....as I just haven't watched enough of the program. It is interesting....and, so far, quite disturbing.

UPDATE: About a week after writing this review, I was slapped with many NOT HELPFULS. Well, I didn't say I liked nor disliked the show and merely reported that some of the story might be difficult for some viewers to watch...so why all the NOT HELPFULS? I am just reporting what is in the first episode...and it's very tough viewing.
