This show is not pretending in the expose to be SF in any way - the methods presented are, since they exaggerate what gene technology can do nowadays or like 10 years ago. The acting is quite a mixed big with nobody really standing out in their roles. Nerds are exaggerated and the nerdy flat-mates are outright annoying. Anyway, the writers don't give the impression that they understand anything about the technology used or how a university works.
