An attempt at rebooting the 'Lassie' series, and judging by the lack of sequels - not an overly successful one.
This is a well-made film, with its heart clearly in the right place, but it's almost trying a little too hard to draw a tear.
Lots of famous faces have their little opportunity to help the beloved collie get home for Christmas, but often are short-changed with their screen time. The lovely Kelly McDonald for a start gets about 5 mins to shine.
Others go so big with their performances (Steve Pemberton/Gregor Fisher) that it feels more like a slapstick adventure than what I imagine it was aiming to be.
The less said about poor Peter Dinklage and Nicholas Lyndhurst the better.
It's ok, it's worth a watch, but this isn't as good as it should've been.
