The Neighbor (II) (2017)
6/10
Mature and reflective

Warning: Spoilers
Despite a predominance of bad reviews on this site, I found myself warming to THE NEIGHBOUR quite a bit. It looks from the start like it's going to play out as the usual cliched psycho thriller but it turns out to be something a lot more mature and reflective, a character study of various lonely and afflicted personalities who come crashing together in a darkly realistic plot. William Fichtner is the main draw here, acting in almost every scene, and his quiet intensity counts for a lot. This slow builder features harsh realism and an inevitable climax and a story that keeps you gripped along the way.
