Cross is a combination of urban crime thriller and early 2010s superhero fantasy. This was in order to get around the film's low budget and I think it was a welcome approach for me. As a D-T-DVD connoisseur of such, I've seen enough cheap ass CGI to last me a lifetime and I'm glad the filmmakers of Cross left it in the hands of it's cast for a change.
No one was really terrible in this, but the performances never rose above the TV movie which i wasn't let down by as the film's marketing reeked of that made for Sci-fi channel aesthetic. However, there are some veteran character actors here who pull off the at times obnoxiously broad dialogue.
Like I said, CGI is kept to a minimum and that was wise, as they gave as much polish as they could to the minimal special effects and therefore nothing looks laughably bad in this department as is usually a given for these kinds of pictures.
Overall, nothing odd to report here as Cross fits the bill as an under demanding and adequately delivering TV movie level superhero affair that is put together more competently than most of its peers.
