Review of In the Dark

In the Dark (2019–2022)
7/10
Entertaining, a show with an unusual main character

I discovered the trailer of "In the Dark" on YouTube randomly and it hooked me immediately. I watched the first season in just a couple of weeks, and I was hooked since episode one.

Murphy is a blind girl with no plan in life, she is very often drunk, she does not want to bound with anyone and she is cynical and pessimistic. Her only important friendship is with a young drug dealer. The two are really great, but one day the guy is killed and Murphy starts to investigate, in order to discover who is the killer. Murphy from a simple girl becomes a detective.

The show deepen very well all the relations between different character, but never loses the main focus: Murphy's investigation. The series is well written, there are many plot twists along the entire first season. I am not an expert, but in my opinion, Parry Mattfeld managed to portray Murphy really well and as blind girl, for me is believable. The series is made to be binge watched: almost every episode ends up with a climax, so you want to watch the next episode to see what it will happen. There are some scenes that are really intense, and because it is easy to bound with almost every character, some scenes may be a little bit difficult to watch, but don't worry: there is not much violence on the show.

If you like to watch an unconventional detective story, I definitely recommend this show.
