Review of Chaos Theory

Chaos Theory (II) (2007)
7/10
A Modest Dramedy
26 April 2020
More drama than comedy, I enjoyed watching this film but I would probably not watch it again.

For one thing, while watching I had the feeling that each role might be better suited to another actor, which is not to say that the acting is inferior.

The film's concept is certainly interesting. A control freak who likes to plan every minute of every day (Ryan Reynolds) has his schedule upset one day, leading to unpredictable results that change the arc of his life. It also changes his outlook on how to live life.

At its core, this is a romance, but most of the film is about Reynolds' attempts to gain equilibrium after his life becomes chaotic. There are moments of comedy (rightfully so), but they are subservient to the more important theme of honoring the truly valuable things in life.
