'Far Cry (2004)' is a first-person shooter set across a variety of tropical island locations. Unlike its follow-ups, the game is structured in an entirely linear, level-based fashion. The stages themselves are rather large, though, and can be tackled in a variety of ways. The game is a solid entry in its genre; it mostly holds up today. It can be very hard, though, especially on the higher difficulties. It can feel a little clunky at times, too, and it's generally rather standard. Still, it's typically an entertaining affair. It's a different kind of experience to the rest of the games in its series. 7/10
