This pilot surely bit off a lot. I think during the pilot they focused on too many threads of the show. First kidnapping, introducing the crime team, his primary assistant, plus adding in a bit on his background. But why the kidnapping of the sister? A rushed solving, and not sure what point? Lost their focus I think.
The thing I enjoyed about the book and the movie was the actual deciphering of the 3 clues per kidnapping. Are the script writers going to be able to carry it forward episode after episode, or are they going to lose that aspect of the book in favor of the wheat and chaff added to network TV.
