Da Sheng (The Great) in the original Xi You Ji (Journey to the West) is the all mighty escorting his Shi Fu all the way while defeating all the fearsome demons. Yes it is good to give the old legend a twist, but no this monkey only carries the same name (and maybe the same image) and left the spirit somewhere else.
