A Fantastic New Direction For A Series That Lost It's Way
7 September 2019
Warning: Spoilers
After Greg Darks masterpiece that was part 3&4, this series pretty much dragged down to self parody and having nothing to do with the original film. There is no reason for this to be as good as it is. Thomas does a fantastic job of updating the original story while honoring it. Sampson plays Jones, a young, shy woman who is lost in a place between confused fantasy and reality where her inhibitions are confronted by raw lustful sexuality. Sampson puts in a truly fantastic dramatic performance, so good that it kind of shows the cracks in that no one else can keep up with her. As a result, Jenna is a bit lost in the role of the devil, but thankfully Thomas keeps this one moving along at a tight 90 minutes and it makes for a fantastic feature. Bonus points for getting Spelvin in for a small role.
