Cyclops (2008 TV Movie)
5/10
Better than expected

Warning: Spoilers
While CYCLOPS is a typical television movie made for the Sci Fi Channel, the quality is a bit better than I was expecting. I mean, the usual problems exist with it - namely the poor quality of the acting (mostly from a no-name East European cast, although Eric Roberts is camping it up as one of the least convincing Roman emperors seen on screen) and the fact that the costumes are made from nothing more than cardboard - but at least there's plenty of action, bloodshed, and a mildly interesting storyline that riffs on KING KONG quite a bit. The cyclops of the title is pure CGI, as you'd expect, but the CGI didn't disappoint me this time around. Imagine a big mutant Gollum and you'll be close. I appreciated the endless gory deaths for the extras, and the twist ending is quite well done. Hardly a classic, but for the Sci Fi Channel it is.
