The story presented here doesn't cover any new ground but is an interesting character study of an attractive and independent late-50s professional woman who has been divorced for about 10 or 12 years. Julianne Moore is Gloria Bell and one night at one of her favorite bars meets a very nice slightly older man who shows an interest in her.
The thorn here is the man has only recently been divorced and, with an ex-wife and two adult daughters who still seem to depend heavily on him, turns out not to be a ready and reliable companion.
So the story is sort of a several week glimpse into the life of this single woman, trying to make a go of it with this nice man, only to finally realize she is probably better off just as she is.
