Meaning behind the ending explained!!

Warning: Spoilers
This was a fairly decent movie crafted by the notorious Spike Lee. I would not describe it as a blockbuster hit. But it had messages that were embedded within the movie that I believed to have served its purpose.

You had CJ the charasmatic time traveling teenager who goes back in time with her close friend Sebastian to save her brother Calvin from being shot by trigger happy police.

The implementation involved with them taking several attempts to get it right, makes perfect sense. A couple reasons for this is that, 1. they just recently became time travelers (armatures). 2. When going back in time you cant predict the actions of others. 3 They were running on borrowed time, therefore they could not make clear decisions in the heat of the moment.

At the end of the movie CJ attempts a Hail Mary in what seems like a final and last chance to save her brother. This is where most people stop being a fan, because of yet another obscure, cryptic ending that leaves the viewer feeling empty.

However there is a resolution to why they ended it the way that they did, which I will explain: On each time travel attempt someone was killed 1st Calvin, 2nd Sebastian, then back to Calvin again. The only one who doesn't get killed is CJ. This final attempt to save her brother at the end is almost a suicide mission, she's going by herself without the support of Sebastian who plainly told her it was dangerous and he wouldn't put his life in jeopardy.

An optimist might believe she makes it out successfully. A realist might say that her chances are way too slim. But that's why this ending is so intriguing.
