TEMPTING FATE is a low budget TV movie flirting with various sci-fi tropes including time travel, parallel universities and future dystopias in which the general populace plays a lottery with extermination as a reward for the unlucky. Given the lack of money it's one of those films where such ideas are merely discussed rather than shown or utilised. There's a lot of melodrama from the cast members, some of whom are familiar (including Ming-Na Wen from AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D.), but it only starts getting interesting in the last twenty minutes and then it's abruptly over.
