Side note on courtesy and true thug behavior
6 January 2019
Throughout, the gangsters keep a sheen of elaborate courtesy over their fist. "If it is convenient with your plans, he invites you to lunch at 1 p.m. ... We'll be waiting in the lobby." For some reason, this movie cliché persists. Actual thug behavior is quickly shown in the blunt contrast at the gas station. Jerry asks for a dollar of gas; it is his last dollar. The owner puts in five dollars of gas. You know he does this all the time to boost sales. Then he immediately calls the sheriff when Jerry can't pay.
