Better than anything in King Kong 2005.
25 November 2018
This is Peter Jackson's reenactment of the lost 'spider pit' sequence that was excised from the 1933 King Kong for being too gruesome.

It's only six minutes long, and made to match the antiquated look and feel of the original, but this loving recreation of the legendary lost Kong footage is better than anything in Jackson's bloated 3-hour remake of 2005. The creatures are suitably creepy and scary, and the grisly demises of the poor explorers are shocking (no wonder that the censors took their scissors to the original).

Since this is the closest to the original missing scene that we're ever likely to see, it's essential viewing for fans of the first (and still the best) King Kong.
