Review of Bitch

Bitch (I) (2017)
2/10
For the most part - obnoxious, screaming kids & crazed dad/hubby

Warning: Spoilers
I like a good black comedy BUT this one did not do anything for me. Flashing shots of wife covered in her own feces and mostly realistic grunts, growls and flash shots of hands clawing at door. Wow...such drama. Best line from kids: It smells like s..t in here. In fact, the only way they could survive would be to walk around spraying room deodorant, but alas they thereafter acted as if rose blossoms filled the house. Sister arrives and does nothing when hubby refuses to consider any medical treatment for his canine acting wife who is a clear danger to herself and others, hence locked the basement.

I watched one scene, with bust flash shots and which makes no sense. Police arrive, insist on seeing her and head toward the basement. We see a 1/2 second screenshot of wife on a stretcher, covered with a blanket. Yet, the next time she is on the screen she is still lying in the basement and later leaves the basement. Films do not usually have such story line errors, so can not figure that one out. There was a hubby dream sequence shortly afterwards but not when the police arrive and enter the house.

There is no development of the wife since the film opens when she has already decided that suicide is a great solution. As noted in my title, the gaggle of kids are obnoxious, uncaring and their ranting, yelling and running amuck takes up a major portion of the film, or so it seems. Hubby is soooo unlikable I was cheering for him to crash and burn.

In the end this was a failed effort at making a good black comedy.
