What is truly hard to forget in this film is the sensitive performance of Polly Shannon in the role of Nicky Dawson, a child of nature who leads expeditions in the veld of South Africa. While the film as a whole is routine, Shannon is a standout in working with lackluster dramatic material.

The far-fetched plot revolves around an apparent murder committed by a gold digger named Gillman, who masterminded the death his wife Sandra in the explosion of a ship so that he could receive a two-million dollar payout. But not so fast! Sandra had a twin sister, separated from her at birth and adopted by a kind man who runs safaris in Africa.

A slick private eye from Chicago named Max Werner has become obsessed with Sandra after watching endless reels of home movies of her. When he discovers the twin sister, he travels to Africa and, of course, falls in love with Nicki. A ridiculous sting operation follows where Nicki tires to impersonate the sister she never knew.

Nicki is so different from Sandra that she cannot fool the quick-thinking villain Gillman. Like everything in this film, the ending rang as hollow and pat. But rising above the mediocre drama was the excellent work by Ms. Shannon as Nicki. Max could never forget her, and neither will the audience members of this made-for-television Harlequin romance-mystery yarn.
