Kung Fool indeed.........
6 October 2017
Warning: Spoilers
Depending on how you take to Chris Farley will decide on your opinion of this film, because it's the Chris Farley show, and nothing will stand in his way, not even the narrative......

a baby is rescued by a clan of Ninja warriors and raised by them as one of their own. But Haru, as he is called, never quite fits in, nor does he manage to make a worthy Ninja.

However, the good-natured and persevering Haru, in his own bumbling way, and with some help from his step-brother, he helps a damsel in distress from her atypical bad guy boyfriend.......

Chris Farley is a Ninja. If that wets your whistle, then go ahead, endure the film for what it is, and hour and a half of him falling over, picking up weapons, destroying items, and acting like a fool. Yes, you may baulk at the idea, but. This guy made a career of doing this, and if it wasn't for his untimely death, I'm sure he would have had a few more years of milking the fact that people flocked to see where he would fall next.

The plot isn't up to much, some guy wants to counterfeit money, and Haru gets involved, by referencing Fletch and Beverly Hills Cop.

It's never funny, Robin Shou shows up with the Mortal Kombat soundtrack to offer some slow motion fighting, and then Farley hits him over the head.

The late nineties were rife with these SNL alumni comedies being released almost every month. You knew which ones they were, because they would do below average business in North America, and end up on a video shelf here in the U.K., featuring a big sticker on the box stating 'Starring Chris Farley, he was in in Wayne's World for a couple of minutes'.

Chris Rock turns up in an embarrassing role, and it all finishes with someone in a wheelchair being hurled off a cliff.

And apparently this is Christian Bales favourite film.....
