A fun teaser / short film
29 March 2017
Even though it was not as good as everyone expected, I still liked the Deadpool movie – enjoyed the marketing, enjoyed the perception of how it was made, and liked that it was successful. This short film captures a lot of that, and it seems nicely disrespectful of a world that is worth billions and filled with "event" movies. Of course there is an irony that Deadpool is also an event film that needs to make money, and that this short film / teaser / trailer pulled in millions of views pretty quickly, however it still manages to have that rebellious tone which works with the character.

The 'plot' here is that Deadpool hears a man in trouble (who may or may not be Spiderman's Uncle Ben) and rushes into a phone booth to change into his costume. It is a simple film that needs you to enjoy the humor of the main film and character. It is consistently amusing and well made; with plenty of 4th walls broken (references to Deadpool's costumer, Logan playing in the cinema in the background, Stan Lee playing Stan Lee, etc). The dialogue fits this style too and I enjoyed it for its brief silly nature, although at the same time if you did not enjoy the film then this will do nothing new to win you over.
